A favorite place: Depuy’s, Paradise Valley, mid-June. Just about perfect. This day was right at the start of the PMDs, and Kel and I had the lower creek to ourselves…

The FF&W [blog] is meant to provide a flow of educational fly-fishing links, articles, and media, as well as a splash of news and art. I hope that you enjoy the read.

Simply beautiful!
Jason,
Nice shots and editing. I fished the nextdoor two weeks ago, as I emailed you. It was not with green grass as yours at that time and the way I fished the creek was not beautiful either….well but big fly (sculpin) and big fish….who can resist?
Yet I did encounter the insect-factory scene. There was a tremendous hatch of midge and baetis. Birds were skimming around the water to eat bugs and hideous trout started to rise all over (it was on a rainy/windy/snowy afternoon unlike your sunny one).
@Dan—Thank you, that’s very kind. I’ll pass it along to Kel.
@Satoshi—Thanks for comment. I got your email with the bit about the big uglies. If that’s what does it, then ugly or not, tie ‘em on. Those creeks can be a bit odd some times. I’ve seen great hatches, but few fish up, and marginal hatches where every fish in the place seemed to be trying to get in on the action. Keeps it interesting, I guess…
