Castanalysis Vids

As a few FF&W readers may know, I was fortunate enough to get some time on an early version of the Casting Analyzer way back in the dawning days of the device. (If you don’t know what the Casting Analyzer is, see the Castanalysis web site). Those initial analyzed casts provided a few graph’s worth of data for my Nature of Fly Casting book. Since that time, the Analyzer has really grown, with Sage offering a version via their dealers, and another version being offered direct-to-consumer through the Castanalysis web site (we use one of the consumer versions at the Fly Casting Institute).

Over the last year or two, I’ve had a few chats with Bruce Richards about tying high-speed video to the Casting Analyzer. Well, Bruce, and his CA business/development partner, Dr. Noel Perkins, have finally gotten a series of videos put together, and a couple are now available in YouTube format. If you are still living in your mother’s basement a casting geek, you may find that the videos are rather addictive. If you happen to own a CA, then the videos may also be useful in further conceptualizing the graphs the device produces.

In any case, it’ll only cost you a few minutes and some bandwidth to see what the far side of the casting world is up to these days (if you read the casting articles here at FF&W, you’re probably already halfway to the far side anyway). Enjoy!
