And it Begins…

GB is here in the Pacific Northwest right now, and is furiously typing away on his PowerBook. What is he typing, you ask? The start of a new book series that the two of us are collaborating on, that’s what. We have plans…big plans (insert megalomaniacal laughter here). Actually, the plan right now is, “We’d better think of a plan!” So we’re working on it, and here’s what we have so far:
- Write a bunch of stuff.
- Illustrate a bunch of stuff.
- Edit a bunch of stuff.
- Layout a bunch of stuff.
- And then… This is where it gets harder (and waaay more expensive).
GB managed to hit the last period on chapter one of the first book yesterday. We’re pretty excited, and we’ll both keep you updated via our respective blogs (GB’s blog will be here and it’s almost ready to go).
Update (Oct 21): GB is done with chapter two and onto chapter three. The man is a fly-fishing/typing machine. At this rate, I’ll have to have the illustrations done by the weekend…

Cool! When is Nature II going to be done? We wouldn’t want this to slow that down now would we!!!
Steve—Nature2 is an on-going beast of a project that teases me from sidelines, daring me to actually get down to business and finish it. While the other project(s) that I’m going to be working on are definitely going to be time-eaters, Nature2 has a special place, so I’ll keep hacking away at it.
I AM planning on doing a collectible, “limited edition” of Nature2. Exact number of copies has not been fully decided upon, but it will be 250 or fewer. If any FF&W readers want to get on the list for that edition (no obligation), e-mail me and I’ll hold your name until the book is ready to go.
Looking forward to this new book series!
And please: Sign me up for one of those limited edition books :)
Your friend,
Grunde
Grunde—Thanks. If GB gets his way, it could be a lot of books (The “20″ number has been bounced around. We’ll see once we get into it all and reality hits home).
I’ve got you on the list for the limited ed. I truly appreciate the support, and you’ll be reading hunks of it anyway before it comes out (you’ve already read the first chapter, I think).
Jason,
I would like to be on your list for the “limited edition” of Nature2. Your original “Nature Of Fly Casting” is one of the best references on the art of fly casting.
Thanks,
Gary
Gary—Thanks very much for both the kind words about Nature1 and for adding your name to the limited edition “maybe” list.
It is looking more and more like I’ll do 250 in the Nature2 limited run. Pricing is a ways out for sure, but it will most likely fall into the $125-$175 range, depending on how the book is built and any extras that might accompany it.
As far as timing goes, don’t expect to see anything this year, but somewhere in the first half of 2010 might be more like it.
Good news, Jason! Looking forward to those works by the Borgers!
By the way, put me in your list for that Nature… limited edition.
Cheers.
Thanks, Aitor—Lots more for translation to Spanish! And you are on the Nature2 list (thanks for that, too).
You looking for an editor? ;-)
Only an editor who does not carry a giant box of red pens in a holster on her hip… ;-)
