A No-Hackle Addendum

After I did the last Drawing Flies 52 image, I thought that I’d re-imagine it as a quick pencil sketch. Just a number two pencil on recycled office paper. Used fingertip smudging to get the shading effects. Didn’t take too long, but I liked it enough to scan it and get it up here. Hope FF&W readers like it, too.

Hi Jason,I like the looks of this one.Elegant in its simplicity, you could say.Actually,it reminds me of the illustrations in the old instuctional books of the 60′s and early 70′s,like the Sports Illusrated how-to series. And I’m looking forward to the loop-wing recipe, too.I’ve tied some up,but I’d like to know the Borger way, since they’ll be fished here in the ancestral homeland of NW Pennsylvania, maybe on some of the waters GB fished in his youth.

Bob—Thanks for the kind comment. I like that it reminds you of the old school books—I grew up reading many of those (I’m just old enough to have gotten some of the 1970s stuff as a kid).

Hope to have the Loop-Wing instructions up this week. And yeah, you might very well be fishing some of GB’s old stomping grounds!
