Fishing the Film – Chapter List
So here’s the “official” chapter list for the upcoming book, Fishing the Film (due out in June 2010—we hope):
1. Fishing the Film
2. The Fish’s Window
3. The Universal Emerger
4. Feeding at the Film
5. Casting for Drag
6. Mending for Drag
7. Fishing Dead Drift
8. Action Film
9. Film-Fly Design Concepts
10. What, When, Where, Why and How
This list includes the usual disclaimer that it could change at any time, and that the chapters could be re-shuffled, re-named, re-imagined or just removed. At this point, I hope not…
The book is tuned to have “something for everyone,” from those who want some core ideas about fishing the film to those who want to expand their thought processes in more detailed ways. The “fly design” aspects are not just for tyers, but also for those who buy their film flies and want to have a better understanding of what they’re looking at in the bins. The book (indeed all the upcoming books) are also liberally salted with fishing stories/examples to keep the flavor from getting too “how-to” bland. Indeed, by the time this whole book series is done, I think that GB will have practically written his fly-fishing memoirs. There are even a few stories in FtF that I didn’t know about prior to starting the project. Should make for a useful, but also somewhat entertaining (we hope) read.

Jason,
Okay, I can’t stand the wait.
How about a weekly tease – drawing of the week from FtF and publish the frontspiece next week, then cover art the following week, then Proper Names from the Index and a fly drawing, then the Introduction and overhead stream diagram, then order informaiton and ship dates – that should cover the interval. Might even enhance pre-publication orders.
How to we advance order, anyway?
Gary
Gary—There will definitely be more to come from FtF before release. GB and I had a good discussion this morning about some last-second content additions, as well as offering the whole series as a one-time, one-price purchase (buy all 20 planned books in advance for a set price, they show up one at a time at your door when ready). We are still working out some numbers/logistics with that last bit, but I hope to know one way or another soon.
Me likes!
