What is This?

Here’s a pic from the (getting closer to done) Fishing the Film book. Anyone care to guess what the shot is of (the general subject), and from what position it was taken? First correct answer (or close enough to correct, in my estimation) gets a prize (answer with a comment below or an e-mail, both have timestamps on them). I have to admit that I don’t know what the prize might be yet, but if you don’t mind a mystery, go for it!

Update: Well, that didn’t take long. Will (see comment below) got it. It is indeed a shot from underwater looking up at an angler through the fish’s window (a/k/a Snell’s window). And yes, window is at the top of the pic (that’s blue sky up there, but I went grayscale to make things at least a bit less obvious). In this case, it is in riffle water, which slices the angler’s image into little bits (the angler is over on the right hand side of the shot). I’ll post a “smooth water” shot here later. Nice job, Will. I’ll shoot you an e-mail later today.

Update 2: Here’s a pic from almost the same position (the camera is just moved over into calmer water):

Well, I think it’s a picture of the window, through which the trout can see the world above the surface. The window is at the top of the pic (with an angler in view?) and the mirror (underside of the surface where light from above doesn’t penetrate is at the bottom.

    Regards
