Keillor Reads Hada

A great heads-up this morning from my friends over at Midcurrent: Garrison Keillor (perhaps my favorite voice on radio) reading a poem by fly fisher, Ken Hada, entitled, “A Blessing.” Keillor could read the dictionary straight through and I’d listen, but his Writer’s Almanac is five minutes of history, prose and poetry that always seems to lure me in. The Almanac is available on-line, with Hada’s pieceĀ found here.

Thanks for sharing this Hon’. It made me think of those times when we keep lingering just a little bit longer because we don’t want to leave the moment behind. Kind of like that night at MZs, until I lost my driver’s license and then the moment was relived in a post-prandial haze via headlamp. Hah!

Makes me think of those snowy winter days back In Wisco, with big flakes falling and a fire going at Ancora. And yes that night at the MZ will live in infamy. At least the county sheriff didn’t show up asking us why we were wandering around on the place at 11pm with headlamps and flashlights….

Lovely poem Jason, hadn’t read that before. Brown trout fishing has just closed here, and the salmon season finishes soon too; that poem has a great end-of-season feel to it. I can smell the wet leaves and see my breath in the air – and here I am sitting warm next to my stove, typing.

    Thanks again.

Thanks, Jason, for the heads-up. Keillor is truly a national treasure, and the poem is so real. May you receive many ‘blessings’ on the stream and otherwise from Whom all blessings flow.

From one who never seems to know when to go home from fishing,
    Dan
