This is (Stone)Fly – Latest Issue

Finally got a chance to leaf through the latest issue of “This is Fly.” While TiF is not to everyone’s taste, I’ve always appreciated its somewhat alternate presentation of the fly-fishing lifestyle. The latest issue is no exception, and I found myself especially drawn to Corey Kruitbosch’s stonefly photo essay (see pages 108-115). The photos have a construct about them that my eye really likes. My wife, Kelley, shoots with a Holga sometimes, so I have a love of photos that are perhaps as much experiment and spontaneity as they are set-up and precision (knowledge of the latter two aspects, of course, really helps with getting the former two aspects to be aimed in the right direction, sort of like jazz). Anyway, check it out if you’re in the mood for something a bit less “old school” today.

Update: The latest latest issue of TiF is now up, so if you’re looking for stoneflies, you’ll have to go back an issue to find them.
