Random Fishing Shot – Walking DePuy’s

No fish, no drama, just a single frame that Kelley took of me one day on Montana’s DePuy Spring Creek a few years ago. It’s really just a snapshot, with no premeditated anything going on, but what it displays just speaks to me rather strongly about my fishing and my life. I’ve fished the spring creeks of Montana’s Paradise Valley since I was a kid, well back into my grade-school years. Like a few other places around the country, Paradise Valley holds special meaning to me partly for that reason. I guess what an image does for one person can sometimes be rather difficult to express in words, and I’ll admit that difficulty this morning. Where my mind goes when I look this scene is just for me, I suppose. Perhaps there are also some thoughts in it for you, too, and if so, I hope that they remind you of your own life’s journey with fish, flies and water….

Hi Jason,
Guessing where in Depuy’s. I think you are walking toward the middle hut (top of middle section)? I might go take a quick look with my bicycle. Guides are saying river trout are making shelters at creeks from high water.
LOTS OF GREAT MEMORIES IN THAT SAME SPOT—–LET’S GO!!!!
Satoshi—That’s walking just upstream of middle hut. A favorite starting section for years. Would be interesting to find a few 6-pound browns “sheltering” up in there…
Flynn—Yes indeed, my friend! The single best dry-fly day I ever had in DePuy’s (in the August before the “big flood” all those years ago) started right there. Never had a day like that before or since, but perhaps things will return to that level again in the future.
